HARNESS RACING FAQ
WHERE CAN I GET A PROGRAM?
Programs will be sold at the Programs/Racing Rewards desk on Saturday and Sunday. Monday through Friday, programs may be purchased from a Mutuels Teller in the Simulcast room. Live racing programs are $2. Simulcast programs are also available, and prices vary depending on the type purchased.
WHAT TIME IS SIMULCAST OPEN?
The Simulcast room opens at 11:00am daily, and closes after the last track of the evening. No one is permitted in that area after closing. Tellers are available based on the schedule of tracks running on that particular day and night.
HOW MUCH IS A MINIMUM BET ON A HORSE?
$2.00 for Win, Place, or Show. However, there is also a 10 cent Superfecta available. Minimum bet at the teller windows for the 10 cent Superfecta is $2.00. Guests may bet a $1 Trifecta; a $1 Exacta; or a $1 Superfecta. There is also a 50 cent Trifecta. The Rainbow Pick 5 is offered for races 10-14 on Pocono, and this is a .20 wager.
WHERE CAN I PLACE A BET?
Tellers are available in the Simulcast room; across from Pacer’s Clubhouse; and weather-permitting, on the apron and patio. There are also self bet machines. Guests may buy a cash voucher from a teller and use this at these machines.
HOW LONG DO I HAVE TO CASH A WINNING TICKET?
Until March of the following year. After that, the ticket expires.
CAN I BRING A CAMERA?
Cameras with detachable lenses, a lens more than 6" in length, and/or other professional camera equipment are prohibited on the track apron, patio, Simulcast, Pacer’s Clubhouse, or any racing area without proper credentials. Credentials may be requested by calling 570.831.2195. A small digital camera is permitted.
CAN I BRING A COOLER?
No, unfortunately, no outside coolers or food are allowed on the apron; in Simulcast; in the racing lobby; or on the patio areas. Absolutely no alcohol is allowed unless purchased on the apron, Patio, from the Simulcast bars, or from the casino. Glasses will not be permitted on the apron as well.
CAN I BRING A PORTABLE CHAIR?
Yes, you are permitted to bring a portable chair. There are benches and chairs on the apron for seating as well.
CAN I BRING MY CHILDREN?
Yes, children are allowed, but they must be supervised and accompanied by an adult at all times. Children may not run up and down the apron. Children may enter Simulcast only with an adult, and the adult must remain with the child at all times.
WHAT IS THE SIZE OF THE TRACK?
The track is a 5/8 mile track. The length of the Homestretch is 490’ and the width of the Homestretch is 103’
WHEN DOES THE RACING SEASON TAKE PLACE?
The racing season usually takes place from March through November each year.
WHAT TYPE OF HORSES RACE AT THE TRACK?
The horse is a Standardbred, and they are either a Trotter or a Pacer.
WHEN DID THE RACETRACK OPEN?
Pocono Downs opened their doors on July 15, 1965.
